Application Guidelines for Multifunctional Additives

Multifunctional Additives – Application Guidelines for Building Coatings Production

1. Product Overview: The multifunctional additive is a high-efficiency amine-based agent integrating pH adjustment, wetting, dispersion, stabilization, and rust prevention. It is widely used in water-based architectural coatings to stabilize systems, enhance compatibility, and simplify formulation structures.

2. Core functions: Rapid pH adjustment to 8.0–9.5 for stable emulsion system formation, pigment dispersion enhancement, slurry viscosity reduction to improve coating storage stability, emulsion breakage prevention, thickening control for equipment and packaging tanks, corrosion inhibition to enhance coating spreadability, leveling performance, and adhesion, reduced additive usage, and overall cost reduction.

3. Application scope includes wall paint, exterior wall paint, elastic latex paint, water-based primer, and waterproof coating.

4. Production Construction Step Addition Phase: Add during slurry mixing or paint formulation stages. Method: Add slowly and stir thoroughly. Recommended dosage: 0.1%–0.5%. pH meter monitoring is advised for real-time adjustment.

5. Environmental Requirements: Operate at room temperature in a sealed environment with continuous stirring and ventilation to minimize volatilization.

6. Storage and Maintenance: Store in a sealed container to prevent volatilization and degradation. Storage temperature: 5°C–35°C. Freezing protection shelf life: 12 months.

7. Precautions: The product exhibits weak alkalinity; avoid direct skin contact. Excessive application may cause film adhesion and reduced water resistance.
