1. It is an excellent rheological control thickener for water-based coatings, providing thickening effects at low shear rates and generating

pseudoplastic viscosity (shear thinning).

2. In the presence of alkali and water, swelling is induced by the combination of high-molecular-weight polymers with hydrophobic compounds,

which provides rheological control effects.

3. Rheovis® HS 1153 can partially replace cellulose ether and is used in interior and exterior wall coatings with excellent anti-sagging properties.

The dosage of Rheovis HS 1153 typically accounts for 1.0% to 3.5% of the total formulation

volume, achieving an optimal balance between product performance and workability. It is recommen

ded to determine the optimal dosage of Rheovis HS 1153 through appropriate testing to attain peak

performance. Rheovis HS 1153 can be added at any stage of production. In such cases, first adjust the

pH of the polymer dispersion to an alkaline range. Under continuous stirring conditions, add Rheovis

HS 1153, followed by re-adjusting the pH to 8–10. Rheovis® HS 1153 may also be mixed with polymer

dispersions to form an alkaline solution. The solid content of the solution should not exceed 1% to

facilitate handling. Thickeners are recommended to be diluted with water while adding alkali under

continuous stirring, followed by pH adjustment. Based on application requirements, Rheovis® HS 1153

can be combined with other series of thickeners or cellulose derivatives to achieve desired effects.
